I am really happy to announce that my latest project Japan Travel Advice has just been launched. This has been a labour of love for me the past year as I have planned the site and gathered the required material from my 10 years in Japan.
The site has lofty ambitions as can be witnessed by the Japan Travel Advice slogan “The Complete Japan Travel Guide”. We have aimed high and realize that in no way the current content is up to our desired goal. We have the basic structure for the site in place and will continue to build upon what is in place. Over the coming months we will continue to post new content on the specific destinations and attractions in Japan to build up the site and reach our goal of being the complete Japan travel guide.
I would love for you to visit the site and let me know what you think. You can do that by clicking on this link Japan Travel Advice
You can leave comments here below and we welcome all feedback from you about the site. We know that it is not perfect at this stage, but will strive to meet our goals and ambitions of being the complete travel guide.
You can also follow Japan Travel Advice on Social Media
It's looking good! All the best to you! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lina, I always appreciate your support and encouragement :)

Congrats! Glad to see "Kawagoe" in your site. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Cocomino, I had to have Kawagoe on there as it is a must see in Kanto. I will post about it in more detail in the future :)

Nice website, Congratulation.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dar, I appreciate that! I hope you continue to drop by and check out our new articles in the future :)
DeleteWow, this looks like a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteThis is something I want to do eventually.
Like .. in 100 years when I've been to everywhere in Japan and finally have posted about it all.
As you know there are still 2 prefectures I need to visit and various places I haven't seen yet, so I don't feel like I'm ready to write a "complete guide".
On top of that I just lack the time.
I hope this will be very successful! ^-^
Thanks Zooming Japan, It's been a labour of love for me and challenging to find the time, so have been doing bits and pieces here and there. I've been to a lot of the places already, so will start posting about specific destinations and attractions shortly. Still have quite a few places to visit, so will continue to be a passion and labour of love over the coming years. I need something to keep me busy :)

Just had a look at the new site and it looks good. A good initial structure is in place from which you can build upon. Why don't you save yourself some work and open it up like a forum or Wiki so people with travel experience in Japan can submit their own recommendations and tips? Are you looking to compete with sites like Japan-Guide.com?
ReplyDeleteThanks Aussie on The Izu, Still a lot of work to do, but look forward to the challenge and it is such a passion for me. I have thought about opening it up and having many people contribute as this would help me out and save a lot of time, but have already been to a lot of the places and have the material ready for the articles. Maybe a community to rank the places and attractions? Still lots of ideas to play with :)
DeleteJapan-Guide.com is a great site, so not looking to compete with them directly but trying to focus on the key destinations in Japan as well as the must see attractions like castles, temples, shrines and gardens. I feel if I can focus on these areas I can contribute quite a lot and build from there. I have looked at a lot of travel sites and have tried to make the process of finding this key information as simple and easy as possible.
Good luck with that site :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Thomas, I appreciate the support and hope you will drop by from time to time to check it out :)

I thought I'd left a comment earlier today, but ... it's disappeared! :( I try again.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to your new site, I clicked on shrines first, and saw Fushimi. Then I clicked on temples, and spotted Senso-ji. Then I checked that Asakusa and Ueno were both highlighted in Tokyo. Yes. I'm happy!
It's looking good, J.A.! Congrats, all the best, and have fun updating it with even more information! Will MosBurger get an honorable mention? :D
Thanks Rurousha, Looks like I've done well. I have tried to cover the main sights and attractions and focus on the key must see places rather than attempting to cover absolutely everything. Thank you for the positive feedback and support :)
DeleteP.S. I'm sure MOS Burger will get an honorable mention some time down the track when the site builds and expands :)
I'm wondering if you could do a post on pre-paid mobile/data sim cards?
ReplyDeleteI land in Tokyo next week and one of the first things I need to do is buy a sim card ;)
Thanks Beau, That's a great idea for a future post. Thanks for the suggestion :)

As for solo travelling, you have to think how to keep in touch with your family/friends, how to call or email them. As I had some difficulties with that, but have found a solution with using a travelsim card. Was able to call my faily, to use Skype and didn't spent a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sofia, I use Skype quite a lot to keep in touch with family and friends back home. I also carry my computer and/or iPad with me when I travel and access the WiFi Hotspots around Japan. Starbucks have quite a good one and they are ever increasing in Japan!
