Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park

Fuji-Q Highland is an amusement park located in Yamanashi prefecture, Japan. The theme park is near the base of the famous Mount Fuji.

This is the place for you if you love rides and roller-coasters rather than the attractions of say a Disneyland or Disney Sea.

The highlights of Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park include:

Takabisha - the world’s steepest steel roller-coaster. Takabisha is 43 meters high and can reach speeds of 100 km/h. Takabisha looks scary even from the ground and is an adrenalin rush for the bravest of daredevils. The ride has amazing views of Mount Fuji, seven twists, dark tunnels and a heart stopping 121 degree free fall.

Fujiyama - the longest and tallest roller-coaster at Fuji-Q. It is 79 meters tall and can reach speeds of 130 km/h. It was once the world’s tallest roller-coaster.

Dodonpa - the fastest roller coaster at Fuji-Q with speeds of around 172 km/h. It was once the world’s fastest and still ranks the fastest in the world for launch time acceleration.

The Haunted Hospital - the world’s second largest haunted attraction.

Thomas Land - a children’s area with a Thomas the Tank Engine theme.

  3. I've heard so much about Fuji-Q and it's ridiculously close to where I live but I've never been! The Haunted Hospital is apparently unlike anything else and set inside a real legit abandoned hospital. I want to go now!

  4. I'm always watching your site for pleasure.
There is a mistake. Fuji-Q Highland is located in Yamanashi prefecture, Japan. Not Yamanishi.

  5. I still haven`t been there, always a little too far me. But I do want to try those rollercoasters. However ... there is no way in the world I would ever go into that haunted house ... just no way.

    1. Thanks Rohan, It is worth a visit especially if you tie in the Fuji Safari Park and views of Fuji-san. These days I'm more inclined to go into the Haunted House than ride the rollercoasters :)

    1. Thanks for the comment Lauren, The official website says they are open from Apr 1st ~ Sep 30th but I believe they are open all year round. They close the second Tuesday of every month. The area gets a lot of snow, so the rides do close due to bad weather.

  8. Hi,
we are planning to go to Japan this november and we would like to go to Fuji-Q. I have some questions. Is it open in november?? Are the queues very long in a week day (not weekend) in november? even if we go there very early before they open??
    Thanks!

    1. Thanks Salvador, I hope you have a great time in Japan. The official website says they are open from Apr 1st ~ Sep 30th but I believe they are open all year round. They close the second Tuesday of every month, so be careful of that. Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends. Summer is usually the peak, so shouldn't be too bad in November.
